How to get your CEO to improve your earned media?

In the current trend to influence influencers, marketers should concentrate on their own staff first. A study from D S Simon Media found that the biggest media influencers come from within the company itself.

If the CEO is available to the media, 74% of journalists think that the brand seems more authentic. Furthermore, 82% say that their content was influenced by social media which means you should get your CEO tweeting.

On the contrary, an outside spokesperson was least effective. This means you can save your money by not hiring a celebrity. Instead, present your senior management with a clear earned media strategy to get them excited.

Companies like Morgan Stanley have hired external companies to manage their earned media, but we need to wait and see how much time of senior management will be available to them.
